The Eighteen Arhats (十八羅漢, Shíbā Luóhàn) are enlightened disciples of the Buddha, venerated in Mahayana Buddhism for their spiritual wisdom, supernatural powers, and lifelong vow to protect the Buddhist teachings (Dharma). In Chinese culture, they are also commonly respected in Taoist-integrated temples, where they are seen as powerful protectors and spiritual beings.

They are said to have attained nirvana, but chose to remain in the human realm to:

• Guard the Dharma

• Aid sentient beings

• Defend against evil forces

十八羅漢是佛陀的證果弟子，在大乘佛教中被尊奉為擁有高度智慧與神通的覺者，並因其終生護持佛法的誓願而廣受敬仰。在華人文化中，他們同樣常見於融合道教的廟宇中，被視為具有強大法力的護法神祇與靈性存在。

據說，他們已證得涅槃，但選擇留在人間世間以：

• 護持佛法（護法）

• 濟度眾生（救苦救難）

• 降伏邪惡（驅邪避煞）
